The device is a generic USB mass storage device and is supposed to use the generic driver. Capacity available for storage will be less; device uses up to 10% of memory for formatting and other functions. As a side note, does anyone know of a good program that will break down whats on my hard drive by percentage or something like that? I used a different memory stick and it showed up as unknown device again, this time I did a reinstall driver and pointed it to c:/windows/inf and it failed to install. why not find out more
In Device Manager, the USB HD shows up under Disk drives and it says "The device is working properly" and the driver is up to date. installed sp1, deleted root hubs & changed drive leter's on freecoms, updated drivers etc etc but no luck, least on old pc I can get access to data. I can use the 2.0 port, but 135 gigs is alot to copy at 15 mb/sec as opposed to 70-100+ mb/sec. Once DevicePath was set correctly the memory sticks automatically installed themselves. Go into C:\WINDOWS\INF and copy the whole contents step 3! You are viewing the drivers of an anonymous computer which may be not the same with your current computer. and vista cannot find it POINT IT TO THAT FOLDER C:\USBDRIVER and click ok. If your driver isn't working, use the driver having the same OEM with the your laptop/desktop brand name. no USB device are working on my laptop!!!

In the Disk Management screen, if I connect either device it shows up in the bottom of the screen, but not at the top. However, when the USB HD is connected, it also creates an "Unknown device" entry under other devices in the Device Manager. Why do i see many drivers ?
